The third RORC Nelson's Cup Series saw 35 boats battle it out on the waves in a thrilling spectacle of sailing prowess.

With its third edition, the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) Nelson’s Cup Series stole the spotlight again with a stunningly spectacular regatta. This latest rendition saw an impressive total of 35 boats on the water, including for the first time, a captivating maxi class consisting of eight ferocious boats which revelled in the conditions thrown at them.

From the 18th to the 21st of February, the regatta dominated the waves, proving to be an invigorating prelude to the RORC Caribbean 600, commencing on the 24th of February. It emerged as a paradisiacal buffet of sail racing, offering appetizingly close-fought races that were won by fine margins only after IRC time correction.

Zennstrom’s Rán has participated in every edition of the RORC Nelson’s Cup Series till now, using it as a warm-up for the RORC Caribbean 600 and a springboard for their campaign in the upcoming year. This includes the Admiral’s Cup and the Rolex Fastnet Race and introduces fresh talents to the seasoned team. One such addition is Jenny Gustavsson, a Civil Engineering graduate from Örebro University, Sweden, who joined the team recently. Gustavsson’s passion for sailing and her experience sailing with most of the Rán crew on the J Class Svea is appreciated by her team members.

Rán’s legacy is not just about winning but also fostering young talent and endorsing female participation in sailing. It exemplifies more than just a race team - they are friends, mentors, and companions sharing not just the thrills of racing but also everyday tasks and meals.
