A Celebration of Female Brilliance: Announcing the Recipients of the 7th Annual Women in AI Awards
The time has come to herald women who are blazing trails in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The 7th annual Women in AI Awards, a saluting platform for the leading women contributing to the AI sector in profound ways, announced its winners at VB Transform in San Francisco on June 25.
The awards serve to uplift women making a difference in the AI community, with nominees having demonstrated a firm commitment to the industry, striving to boost inclusivity, and inspiring positive change. Similarly, the VentureBeat committee, responsible for final winner’s selection received nominations from the public.
Securing the AI Research award was Lindsay Richman, CEO at Vibrissa AI. This honor is given to a woman who has accelerated AI progress via meaningful research within her organization or academia, or influencing AI generally. Richman’s work centers on the exploration of sensor and biometric data and their applications, pioneering research in areas such as longevity, cellular orchestration, mitochondrial health, and biophotonics.
The AI Mentorship award is bestowed on a female leader who has empowered other women in AI through guidance, support, or encouragement. Suruchi Shah, an engineering manager at LinkedIn, won this award this year. Shah is known for leading the development of state-of-the-art infrastructure for large language model (LLM) serving, thereby transforming the way AI models are deployed across LinkedIn’s ecosystem.
In a world grappling with ethical implications of AI, the award for Responsibility and ethics of AI is more relevant than ever. This year, it was awarded to Stephanie Cohen, chief strategy officer at Cloudflare, as an acknowledgment of her exemplary leadership in the emerging field of responsible AI to ensure the technology is used ethically and responsibly.
