Expanding its Global Footprint, A16z Unleashes Scout Network to Foster European Investments

Despite edging away from direct presence, Andreessen Horowitz (A16z) is astutely facilitating growth within the European tech ecosystem through its expanding scout network.

Despite shuttering its London office and embarking on a strategic shift back to the US in the wake of the recent election, venture capital powerhouse Andreessen Horowitz (A16z) continues to strategically deepen its foothold in the European tech landscape. By leveraging an expanding network of scouts, the firm is actively functioning as a catalyst for growth within Europe’s burgeoning startup scene, fostering connections, stimulating innovation, and yielding fruitful investments.

In the last two years, A16z has continuously amplified its commitment to the European tech scene, with at least 21 scouts actively initiating deals in the region. These scouts, a fusion of founders and operators affiliated with some of Europe’s most promising startups, are earmarked to endorse startups at the pre-seed and seed stages with checks ranging between $10-25k. The capacious network saw at least nine scouts added in 2025, underscoring the firm’s enthusiasm for perpetuating influence in the region.

On the quest to uncover Europe’s next tech juggernauts, A16z maintains a vibrant and engaged presence, further nurturing the tech ecosystem through initiatives such as hackathons. Jointly held with the likes of ElevenLabs and AI coding startup Lovable, these events serve as platforms for innovation and discovery, revealing the promise and potential of Europe’s tech landscape.

By unfurling its scout network, A16z is demonstrating how venture capital engagement can extend beyond borders, facilitating international collaboration and investments. The scouts, empowered with a long, solid leash, are the firm’s eyes and ears on the ground, tapping into their local networks and unearthing hidden gems in the European tech sector. This is a clear testament to the firm’s continued commitment to the European startup scene, regardless of its geographically receding shadow.
